Dark Shadows Board Game

Connie has fond memories from early early childhood of her mother watching Dark Shadows before leaving for her shift at work. In the times well before VCR taping the ladies tried to catch as much of their "stories" as they could while they were airing on tv to keep up.

We found this small black and white image of the front of the Dark Shadows Barnabus Collins Board Game and instantly loved it. We recreated the colors by hand and think we came up with a pretty vintage looking period accurate piece for this print.

Secret Recipe Skull Sanders - Shirt Club Week No. 18

Secret Recipe Skull Sanders - Gray on a 100% Cotton Smoke Charcoal T- Shirt

It's no Secret that Skull Sanders is the Print Mafia Mascot. We both love all the old KFC design and who are we kidding the food too. Both Jim and Connie have loved the Colonel imagery since childhood.

Many moons ago we created Skull Sanders. It took about 4 minutes to make and he was first used on a Buckethead concert poster. After that we adopted him as our mascot and think of him as maybe the best thing we have ever done.

We currently have a Gallery Show here in Bowling Green at the Southern KY Performog Art Center (SkyPAC). The title is Secret Recipe and the show is entirely based around Skull Sanders art pieces. We usually don't tinker with him but for this show we found ourselves creating many layered and distressed images of Skull Sanders.

We decided to offer up this first ever variation on the standard Skull Sanders as a T- Shirt for the Shirt Club to make it special and limited edtion for the supporters of the club so far.

We hope you will pick up this shirt and enjoy some of our Print Mafia Kentucky Fried Design®.

Saint John Muir - Patron Saint of National Parks

Maybe one of the coolest guys you never heard of.

John Muir (1838-1914) was America's most famous and influential naturalist and conservationist. He is one of California's most important historical personalities. He has been called "The Father of our National Parks," "Wilderness Prophet," and "Citizen of the Universe." He once described himself more humorously, and perhaps most accurately, as, a "poetico-trampo-geologist-botanist and ornithologist-naturalist etc. etc. !!!!"

Zodiac - Shirt Club Week No. 17

Zodiac - Serial Killer Silver on a 100% Cotton Black T-Shirt

This shirt is simple. It doesn't need to be complicated up with layers and elements to create a story. The true story is enough.

The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He wrote letters to the newspapers and police and used a 408 symbol cryptogram to hide his messages. He claimed these letters contained his identity. He also used them to make threats and demands to and about the newspapers and police. The case remained open and unsolved  until 2004 when it went inactive. It was reopened in 2007. There are many theories about who the killer was or is and many suspects were investigated. We likely will never know if the Zodiac lives or has already died.

This case is one of several that fascinate both Jim and Connie. The vIsual element is very compelling and the brutality of the murders is completely frightening. The fact that this guy was seemingly trying to get caught and remains possibly free to this day ranks the Zodiac Killer tops on the PM list of mysteries.

We encourage you to read up on the Zodiac online and to watch the 2007 David Fincher film Zodiac to familiarize yourself with one of the most fascinating crime cases ever. Oh and we encourage you to get in the club and wear ZODIAC by Print Mafia.

No big long story about this one! Just a simple shirt with a Soul Superstar Kicking Some Ass!!!

Goodbye - Shirt Club Week No.15

Goodbye - Gold and Gray on a 100% Cotton Black T-shirt.

We worked with the band Interpol on a very successful series of posters for their 2007 tour. THe band had input into the designs and gave us some themes or general thoughts and then asked us to interpret their ideas. They really liked the thought of a phone that speaks straight to heaven (very much like the one Andy Warhol carried in the Oliver Stone film The Doors). We loved that imagery and applied our visual style to it and the poster turned out great. We loved the gold phone so much that we reused it here and added the Goodbye wording. We aren't sure who had a conversation but hope it was a good one.

Iris - Shirt Club No. 14

Iris - Minty Green ink on a 100% Cotton Forest Green shirt.

"All the animals come out at night."

Taxi Driver is one of the best movies ever. No arguments. The story, the characters, the performances and the cinematography that captures the slazy Mid-70's New York City are all fantastic. The look of t his film is everything that Print Mafia® is about. We did a set of two Cinema Series prints that featured Travis and Iris. We captured a few multi layered images of Iris in the process and chose to revisit one of those double Iris looks for a T-shirt. You can wear this vintage looking shirt and show your appreciation for Taxi Driver and Print Mafia all at once. Get in the Club!
